Dr Rory Melville MBChB, MRCGP, FRACGP, DGM qualified in Medicine in 1993 and completed his training in the West of Scotland before relocating to the Redlands in 2013. Rory has been delivering patient centred primary care for almost 20 years. He has extensive experience in managing complex chronic disease and co-morbidity including mental health illness. His special interests include care of the elderly (diploma of Geriatric Medicine), pain management (5 years of anaesthetic experience) and minor surgery including toenail surgery, skin biopsies, excisions and joint injections. Rory firmly believes in holistic medicine and is a member of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine. He has qualifications in medical acupuncture and clinical hypnotherapy.
Rory is a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland, School of Medicine and he regularly supervises medical students in general practice. He hopes to inspire the next generation of enthusiastic general practitioners.
In his spare time Rory likes to participate in trail running with his wife, walk the family’s dalmatian and watch his kids play rugby union.
