Dr Matthew Harvey
BMed, FRACGP, MAICD

Dr Harvey graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2000.  Embarking on a hospital career spanning over a decade, he gained extensive experience in Orthopaedics and trauma surgery, Forensic and anatomical pathology, Intensive care, Cardiac care, Palliative care, Rehabilitation medicine, General medicine and Emergency medicine.

He moved to the Redlands with his family in 2009 and has been in General Practice in the Redlands since 2012.

Over the last 10 years Dr Harvey has used his broad experience to treat musculoskeletal problems and minor trauma, provide holistic medical and non-medical acute and chronic pain management, perform skin cancer surveillance, skin cancer surgery and other procedures including toenail & fingernail surgery, therapeutic venesection and iron infusions.

He has also broadened his interests and skill in: complex and chronic medical conditions, women’s health including Implanon insertion and shared antenatal care through Metro South Hospitals, men’s health, LGBTIQ+ supportive and affirming care, and mental health.

Dr Harvey is a member of the Australian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA) and works collaboratively with local psychiatrists and psychologists to assist children, adolescents and adults who are questioning a diagnosis of ADHD, or who have been formally diagnosed, to access optimal holistic care and treatment.

In his spare time, Dr Harvey loves spending time with his wife and four children, and all the menagerie of animals including the Rottie, the Ragdoll, the Conure, the chooks and the fish.  In amongst all that he enjoys making his own sourdough and yoghurt, and harbours fantasies about finding the time to go on long bike rides or pick up new hobbies.
